From:

"In all honesty, when I was first going to see Jo, I was terrified. I got started with my college search later than a lot of other students, and I had my eyes locked solidly on one school. I had no idea what to expect from our meetings, and no idea what I was doing. Despite my initial fears, though, Jo has truly been amazing throughout this whole process. It amazes me, more than anything, how much she really cares. Jo put so much into helping me. She gave me some new schools to consider, and as a result, I ended up applying to a range of schools which got me really excited: University of Pittsburgh, George Washington, Washington and Lee, University of Richmond, American University, Georgetown University, and Columbia University. She helped me to workshop several of my essays, and helped in other ways I could never even have imagined. I owe her so much. Also, I can safely say that without Laura's organizational skills, I would have been lost! Her packet full of application materials and deadlines kept me on-track and sane while I was submitting applications. I will never understand how my friends and classmates survived the application process without people like Jo and Laura to help."
Rachel

"Before the college application process, I was nervous and thought that I would be applying to the same old generic schools, Penn State, Pitt, West Chester, East Stroudsburg, and my number one, dream school, University of Texas. After meeting with Jo and Laura, this was not the case at all. My number one school didn?t change, but my number two and three schools were not even on my original list: James Madison University and University of Delaware. Thanks in large part to Jo?s outstanding work and aid on my essays; I was admitted to 5 of 6 schools on my list (at the time of writing this I am still waiting to hear from University of Delaware). I am absolutely convinced were it not for Jo?s help on my essays and Laura?s help on my resume and actual applications, I would not have been admitted to the University of Texas or James Madison University and would have had to settle for a lesser university. Jo and Laura were extremely accessible and were always ready to help with any question I had. If anything, the only negative to this whole experience, coming from Holland, PA, Jo and Laura?s office as a decent drive, but Jo always opened the doors of her home to me which was much more convenient to me, and Laura was always just a phone call away. After I met with Jo and Laura for the first time, I knew that this process was not going to be as dreadful as it had seemed all of my junior year.

"I've worked to get into college ever since I started high school. I spent many late nights working on papers and studying for tests when I could have been out with friends and whenever I did have free time, I tried to make sure I spent it on something that would count as an extra-curricular. When it came time to apply to schools, I knew I had the abilities and the grades to give me a good chance to get accepted to the top institutions. There was only one thing that I was worried about - the process. I was terrified that my years of hard work would go to waste because I couldn't stay organized or write the "perfect" essay. This is where Jo and Laura came in - working with them eased my mind and allowed me to put out the applications I possibly could. As result, I have not only been accepted into multiple service academies and colleges, but I have also greatly improved my general writing ability and time management skills; something that will serve me throughout college and beyond."

"I just wanted to tell you that I saw your seminar yesterday at the FBLA Convention in Edison, NJ and I learned so much from it. Thank you so much for that informative session!"

"I am writing to tell you how much I enjoyed your presentation at the FBLA New Jersey State Conference. I found your workshop very informative. I learned the importance of creating a portfolio and how to use it. You taught me how to make a resume and the information that it should contain. You gave me great ideas on how to write college essays, which will come in handy this summer. Most of all, I learned how to be Outstanding! Thank you for everything that you have taught me. The knowledge I gained is invaluable to me. . I am going to be applying to the Ivy League schools for college and what you taught me will definitely help me to get accepted and stand out among the other applicants."
MC

"I am a 9th grade student who was at your workshop at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Edison, NJ. Well, at the workshop you spoke of how important it is to form relationships and an example you gave of how to form one was of just e-mailing you. You suggested that we could e-mail you with how to make a playlist for an ipod. Anyway, I happened to have recently got an ipod myself and I thought of you. Here is a step by step guide on how to form a playlist. I hope it's helpful! I hope all is well and I want to thank you for that wonderful workshop."
AJ

"It was a great honor to sit in your seminar, I definitely learned a lot. Your tips on ways to make my college essay stand out and better communication skills will certainly help me in the near future. I also went to toastmasters.org, just like you told me-I found useful tips and I am going to attend a couple of seminars in the near future so I will have a heads up for my Cornell Summer College experience. Mrs. Leonard thanks again!"

"Hey Jo!!
As I'm starting to hear back from some of the schools I have applied to I want to let you know of my acceptance. I was accepted to Marymount Manhattan College and St. John's University and St. John's offered me a great academic scholarship! I've only heard back from those two schools but I just wanted to update you on the process and thank you for all of your help! I really appreciate it and it helped me tremendously. I will keep you informed and I hope you had a scrumptious Thanksgiving! We will be in touch."
LM, Doylestown, PA

Testimonials from College Admission Interview Workshops

"Working with Jo was a HUGE stress relief. Rachel and I were trying to accomplish the same objectives with 2 completely different styles and views and working through Jo kept us from constantly banging our heads together! She found someone who could provide guidance without making her feel like she was "giving in to Mommy" and I found someone who could help her to see the things she was missing."
Diane

"Both of my sons have been working with Jo Leonard, LLC. for 4 months. My youngest, a sophomore at Vanderbilt University has spent 7 weeks in London, where his career consultant has been able to set up numerous meetings for him in financial companies. These types of investigative meetings have given him a lot of information about the global markets and he’s thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet with such interesting professionals. My eldest, a junior at Denison University has successfully secured a great internship with the help of his career consultant, and will continue to work with Jo Leonard throughout his final year to ensure he develops a good network of people to help him find a position when he graduates."
S.S., NY and Chicago

"Jo Leonard uses her exceptional knowledge and experience to assist the student in making the difficult journey from the world of academics to the acquisition of that first job. She has the ability to uncover a student's strengths and weaknesses, thereby assisting the student in determining which roads to travel. She's outstanding! My son just landed a fantastic job in New York! We are all thrilled. He graduated in December with little confidence that he would land a job, but it all turned around with the personal attention give to him by Jo Leonard. Thanks to all who supported him."
J.R., Doylestown, PA

"My son has benefited tremendously from the time spent with his career coach at Jo Leonard, LLC. He has spent his summer taking informational meetings in companies he would not have had access to without their help. His confidence has been boosted since he started exploring different career ideas and when he graduates in December, I’m sure he will have a much easier time finding a good cjob. He plans to continue working with Jo Leonard, LLC. during his final semester, which I am most pleased about."
W.M., New Hope, PA

"As far as your work with Jo Leonard, LLC. I think it has been hugely positive for you and the best graduation gift any graduating senior could receive. The structure of their program has focused your efforts in presenting a concise and comprehensive resume that showcases your accomplishments. Additionally, your job search and networking is clearly moving forward in a more professional manner than most recent college graduates. I am confident that through your work with Jo you will be employed in an appropriate field of interest and in a job that you enjoy. Keep up the good work!"
KT, Malvern, PA

"The first thing parents of a student in this District should do is call Laura Wallace of Jo Leonard, LLC. My son was daunted and overwhelmed by his college search until Laura entered the scene. She knows more about the campuses and programs available to students than ...well, those people at Barrons. She makes it her business to know all the campuses and to talk to students from the schools she recommends. Based on her extensive understanding of the college landscape and my son's needs and goals, Laura compiled a list of schools for my son to explore. In short, Laura turned my son's college search, which had started out fraught with self doubt and confusion, into a wonderful journey of self discovery and possibility. In short, the guidance departments can't offer the breadth and range of expertise that Laura Wallace brings to bear on the college application process. I recommend her services to everyone going through the college search and application process. She really is that good."
Maria L., Furlong, PA

"College Admission Counseling enables you and your child to sift through the overwhelming maize of colleges to find a range of perfect fits. Your child's qualities, goals, deadlines and requirements will be organized in a concise manner. Laura will help you survive the college admissions process. She is a true professional at evaluating your child's potential and is able to pin point all the qualities that colleges consider when reviewing an application. She will focus on the best version of your child's assets while considering what suits their needs. I only wish that I had knowledge of Laura for our oldest child."
Molly C., Doylestown, PA

"My daughter was stressed during her senior year in high school and then the stress of having to applying to colleges overwhelmed her. She procrastinated so badly we were under terrible time constraints. Being in the Arts, my daughter needed to schedule auditions along with the applications. We were lost because we didn’t know where to start the process. We found out about Laura Wallace through a friend and could not have been happier with her knowledge and help. Laura’s kindness made my daughter feel very comfortable. We all felt she really had a genuine interest and concern for Brianna’s future. Laura came to our home and brain stormed with us concerning the actual schools Brianna was interested in. She did more research and told us about other schools that she should consider. We then started the application process. Laura simplified the process with lists, checklists and worksheets. Since we were under such time constraints, these organization tools were key. Her organization was the key to our success. If it were not for Laura, my daughter would not have made the college application deadlines. Brianna would not have had the college choices she ended up with. I have nothing but admiration for her in respect to both her knowledge and kindness."
Kathy H., Doylestown

"Jo Leonard helped my daughter gain comfort and confidence in showcasing her accomplishments, allowing her to shine in her college interviews. I anticipate using Jo again when thinking through strategies to find that first job out of school."
SHW, Pennington, NJ

"We were behind in the college search process and were starting to panic as to what needed to be done. My son didn't know where he wanted to go to school. He also wasn't sure about what he wanted to major in. Jo and Laura were very helpful. They were able to guide us to universities that we would never have known to consider. They met with my son and helped him to feel comfortable with the not knowing what he wanted to major in. With spreadsheet in hand it made it easier to keep up with deadlines. My son is an excellent writer but was stressed out about what type of essay he should use. He decided to write an addition chapter to well known novel. Just knowing they were available gave him the confidence to break out of the norm of the typical essay."
MH, Doylestown, PA

"Jo empowered her, made her feel professional, comfortable, at ease, took away the mystique of interviews, she was proud of her resume and her accomplishments (when she didn't think she had done much to that time); she rose to Jo's high standards; she spoke up more with adults."
ID, Bridgewater, NJ

LD, West Windsor, NJ

"Having graduated with High Honors from Lehigh I had assumed it was going to be really easy to find a job that I loved. I spent a year trying out occupations that did not work. Jo really helped to get me on my feet- organize my qualities and focus on my passion to help and to work with inspired people. I began working at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in July. Since then I have also gained the connections and confidence to begin my own committee- soon to be a Not For Profit organization! Without Jo's push- I would never be at the place I have now- less than a year after meeting her, really sorted out my life focus!"
JF – 22 years old
